La Boutique Martin Pouret
ORLEANS
Descriptive
As early as the Middle Ages, Orléans was the main river port where the boatmen who went down the Loire stopped before delivering Paris in wine. During this stopover, the wines that had turned over were then set aside and turned into vinegar In 1580, the King of France signed the ordinance that laid the foundations of the method of making Orleans Vinegars and Mustards. The town thus became the French capital of these products, which are essential to our gastronomy. Since 1797, the Maison Martin-Pouret, the last Master Vinegrower of Orléans, has been seducing the finest palates with its variations of vinegars, mustards and gherkins with original and authentic recipes.
