Housed in the former residence of its founder, the Museum of Mosaic and Enamels retraces 160 years of industrial art.

You will be immersed in the social, economic, political and cultural history of France over the last two centuries, by retracing the history of the manufacture of Briare, through the production of earthenware, pearls, buttons and enamels (mosaics), as well as archive documents, machines and a film about enamel production. Formerly known as the "city of pearls", Briare continues to develop on an international scale, with its prestigious products used in major projects (Olympic-size swimming pools, airports, luxury hotels, train stations, metro stations...).

Sur le lieu de production des fameux émaux qui ont fait la renommée du patrimoine français au siècle dernier, le Musée des Émaux et de la Mosaïque présente une surprenante collection de boutons et de perles, mais aussi de petits objets en émail, fabriqués dans la manufacture de Jean-Félix Bapterosses à Briare-le-Canal. On y retrouve les œuvres de mosaïque du peintre Eugène Grasset, rutilantes de couleurs et d’or, célébrant la mosaïque à la période Art nouveau, mais aussi les illusions d’optique grandeur nature de Victor Vasarely, produites par l’usine dans les années 1970. A l'heure actuelle et sous réserve de changements ultérieurs, le Musée sera ouvert uniquement pour les groupes (plus de 20 personnes) sur réservation au 02 38 31 36 36
