Jean-Baptiste Bollée was the family’s very first metal caster. His younger son, Ernest-Sylvain, opened his own foundry, by Le Mans. Concurrently, he also invested in the tap industry. And he was the inventor of the Bollée wind turbine. The elder son, Jean-Baptiste Amédée, settled in Saint-Jean-de-Braye, where he opened a foundry in 1838. The establishment met with international success. Since the 19th century, four generations successively watched over the family business.
