Born in 1870, Maurice spent his childhood between a private mansion in Paris’s sixth arrondissement and the Château de Lude in Jouy-le-Potier, in Sologne. In the early 1900s, he developed activities in the artists’ galleries he managed in Paris, hosting several painters. He also called upon the architect Henri Rapine to work on the Château de Lude, where he restored the old family castle in Loire Valley Renaissance style, which led Maurice to develop a taste for elegant detail and light-inspired architecture. Most of his works are under conservation at the Orléans Fine Arts Museum.
